About 1,400 single brothers and sisters from 23 U.S. states and the nations of England, Russia, Israel, and Singapore flocked to Palm Springs July 27-29th for the LA Church\'s \"Remain in Me\" West Coast Singles Conference. The event, which centered on Jesus\' words in John 15, offered powerful & inspirational sermons, vibrant worship music, fun in the hot sun and loads of fellowship.
Click here to listen to the conference theme song. The keynote preacher was Douglas Arthur, the lead evangelist for the Boston Church of Christ. Attendee Phil Schwartz recalled that one of Doug\'s points was that we should not be afraid of gently confronting people --Christians and non-Christians alike.Doug called the singles to imitate Jesus, who crossed racial, religious and gender barriers to show people the truth. He pointed to examples like Jesus\' interactions with the Samaritan women at the well and with Nicodemus. Phil, an advertisement salesman, said many of the disciples chose to stay up until 2 or 3 a.m. hanging out and talking in the resort\'s lobby and ballrooms.
Faye Heidari, a skin care professional from Orange County, California, said the event refocused her commitment to trusting, obeying and relying on God, loving other Christians, and sharing her faith with non-believers. She especially enjoyed the creative videos and live skits that were presented. Her favorite was \"The FatherGod,\" a spoof on \"The Godfather.\" Tom Tracey, a disciple who served on the technical crew, said it was fulfilling to help make the special event happen. .jpg&pic_width=250\") We look forward to seeing God do great things through all the men and women who attended the conference. It\'s encouraging to know that we have a lively, happening ministry for singles of all ages! --Brian Martinez
