img_0090.jpg-2_large.jpgAfter two wonderful Saturdays of Soccer in San Pedro in which all nine regions of the Los Angeles Church participated in this Year's church soccer tournament for the first time, a new champion is crowned. Congratulations are in order to the Central Region team which defeated the Metro LA region 3 goals to none in the championship game. Both teams arrived to the final game after a much contested preliminary Saturday and after defeating the South and East region teams respectively in the semi-final games. gusyfrancisco_large.jpgThe Central region team excelled both on offense and defense, not allowing a single goal the entire tournament while scoring 12 goals. This team featured 7 new Christians and was great example in sportsmanship as well. All nine teams should be commended not only for the level of competition displayed, but for the outstanding sportsmanship and brotherhood unity displayed. Every game was preceded and ended with a prayer and many warm hugs. Truly this was a light for all to see as Christ was represented in a great way. The fellowship amongst the hundreds of disciples from all around LA was amazing. Many thanks are in order to the excellent all disciple refereeing team of David Blenko and Wheaton, Jason and Ryan Mills, and especially to Wheaton Mills of the South region who secured the fields and organized the officiating crew. This was the ninth edition of the "Copa de la Vida" tournament. We hope to see you all at next year's 10th anniversary tournament to be held the 6th and 20th of June 2009.
